Why did you alter the series for 2020?
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak we as a committee decided to re-format the series. Players can now register for the Regional Qualifying stage. Our Regionals start in late July and will give ample time for players to get ready.
Why do the Regional Qualifiers vary in field size and qualifying spots?
Due to course availability and re-scheduling due to the COVID-19.
Why are the division breakdown numbers different for each tournament?
Due to COVID-19 and the re-formatting of our Series, the JGNC Committee evaluated each division in each tournament based on the demand in each Region. The maximum number of players and number of qualifying spots per division was determined based on the demand in specific areas being different for boys and girls. The breakdown is essentially 21-27 players per qualifying spot. We understand the demand is different per Region which is why these numbers are different by tournament. The Committee did the best they could to make it as fair as possible for all players participating. The JGNC Committee has the authority to distribute more qualifying spots to specific divisions if they become available.
How many players are needed to receive the qualifying spots?
As long as their are player's competing in a division, the JGNC Committee will award the respective qualifying spots per tournament. The NB3 JGNC is an open series and provides the same opportunities to all golfers across the country to play their way into the National Championship. If a division has 0 players registered, the JGNC Committee will decide if they want to allocate the remaining qualifying spots to other divisions. This decision is at the discretion of the JGNC Committee and all factors will be evaluated before the decision is made.
If I am in college and on a golf team can I compete in the Series & National Championship?
For 2020 ONLY, due to the uncertainty of college golf programs, we are allowing college golfers to compete in the Championship if they qualified in 2020, are not having any college sanctioned tournaments in the fall of 2020 AND their college golf coach has approved them to play in our Championship November 15-17th.
